Carpinteria 24, Santa Clara 6--The Warriors (4-0-1) kept the ball on the ground to defeat Santa Clara at Channel Islands High. Carpinteria quarterback Son Ngo rushed 12 times for 76 yards and did not attempt a pass.
The pace was set on the Warriors’ first play from scrimmage. Wide receiver Ryan Kuttler took a pitch and sprinted 63 yards for a touchdown.
Forced to play catch-up, the Saints (2-3) could not. They remained scoreless until quarterback Alex Vega ran in from one yard with 52 seconds left.
