Tony Bennett, the Charlotte Hornets’ second-round draft pick, signed a multiyear contract with the team.
The team held its first practice without No. 1 pick Alonzo Mourning, whose agent, David Falk, is involved in a dispute over his suggestions that the Hornets should trade players in order to free more money under the salary cap to pay Mourning.
The team has offered Mourning $2.1 million per season. Falk was quoted as saying while the offer was fair, it was unacceptable.
