Jill Johnson started last week with no goals in Orange Empire Conference play but begins this week tied for the conference scoring lead.
Johnson, a freshman from Costa Mesa High, scored six goals in two conference victories for Orange Coast. She had two goals and an assist as OCC beat Golden West, 5-0, Tuesday, then came back Friday to score all four goals as the Pirates dropped Irvine Valley, 4-2.
Johnson is tied with Brandi Yates of Cypress and Rene Cano of Irvine Valley for the conference scoring lead with six goals.
Other top performers:
Saddleback’s Sonja Hildebrand, who was third overall in the Irvine Cross-County Invitational.
Laurie Wilson of Cypress, who scored two goals and had an assist as the Chargers beat Palomar, 4-0, in women’s soccer. It was Cypress’ only match that week.
