A series of neighborhood workshops are scheduled over the weekend, beginning Friday, to develop alternative uses for the former Southern Pacific Taylor Yard, 240 acres of land in the Cypress Park and Glassell Park areas.
A team of planning and design professionals will interview community members, landowners and other interested officials.
The workshops will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the California Room at Lawry’s California Center, 570 W. Avenue 26, Cypress Park. A second workshop has been scheduled for Nov. 13-15 in which the team will synthesize social, economic and design proposals for the land.
The effort is being sponsored by several Los Angeles architecture and planning organizations.
