Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said its third quarter was its best ever, with earnings increasing 75% over the year-ago period to $103.3 million.
The company cited strong domestic tire sales, new products, a better distribution system and lower raw materials costs for the improvement.
The earnings amounted to $1.44 a share for the July-September period, up from $59.1 million, or $1.01 a share, a year ago.
Sales for the quarter rose 7.1% to $3 billion from $2.8 billion.
