Sing-Along ‘Requiem’ to Honor Roger Wagner
- Share via
A public sing-along memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in honor of the late Roger Wagner, founder of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
The singers’ tribute will include a sing-along of Faure’s “Requiem,” one of Wagner’s favorite works.
“Because so many singers in the Southern California area had a chance to work with Roger over the years, we wanted to hold a musical memorial that would involve as many of them as we could,” said Maurice Staples, Chorale general manager. “There’s been such an outpouring of emotion from the entire community since Roger’s death (that) we wanted to provide a setting where we could invite people to celebrate his life.”
The free program is sponsored by the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles County Music Center. Chorale Music Director Paul Salamunovich will conduct the sing-along and William Beck will provide organ accompaniment.
