SINGLE LIFE: Paul Westerberg, who has two songs on the hit “Singles” soundtrack, is staying single himself, artistically speaking. The former Replacements leader begins recording his first solo album soon--and word is that anyone pining for a Replacements reunion shouldn’t hold his or her breath.
The album, which will be produced by Matt Wallace (whose credits include the Replacements’ “Don’t Tell a Soul” and Faith No More’s “Angel Dust”), should be out next spring, making it the third solo album by a member of the band. Drummer Chris Mars struck first with an album last spring and bassist Tommy Stinson steps up next with a collection in January.
