A 56-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing a street in Mission Hills, Los Angeles police said Saturday.
Evangilene Blodgett of West Carrollton, Ohio, was walking west across Sepulveda Boulevard near Chatsworth Street about 9:30 p.m. Friday when she was hit by a car headed south on Sepulveda, said Officer John Baby. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Douglas Whitney, 40, of Mission Hills, was not arrested after the incident, Baby said, and police are not expected to seek charges against him. Poor visibility created by the rain may have contributed to the accident, Baby said.
