Delphi Posts 2nd-Quarter Earnings of $209,000

Delphi Information Systems Inc. reported a fiscal second-quarter profit of $209,000, against a year-earlier loss of $119,000, on a 16% increase in revenue.

In the quarter that ended Sept. 30, Delphi, a Westlake Village provider of computer systems to independent insurance agents and brokers, said its revenue climbed to $11.4 million from $9.82 million a year earlier.

The higher revenue reflects Delphi’s acquisition late last year of Redshaw Inc., a supplier of software and automation systems to the insurance industry, from ITT Corp.’s Hartford Fire Insurance Group. The earnings rebound also reflected cost-cutting efforts, Delphi said.

For the first half of its fiscal year, Delphi earned $526,000, compared with a year-earlier loss of $778,000. Its six-month revenue total rose 37%, to $25 million from $18.2 million.
