The NCAA placed the Lamar University women’s basketball program on two years’ probation for major violations, including providing players with cars, air fare and cash. The infractions came during the 1990-91 season when the team was coached by Al Barbre. It finished the regular season 29-4, won the American South Conference and went to the final eight NCAA tournament.
