Bosnian Refugees

“Not Another Holocaust” (editorial, Nov. 2) calls attention to the fact that otherwise decent individuals and societies have the frightening capacity to shut their eyes to genocide. The ongoing torture, rape and murder of thousands of innocents in Bosnia is well-documented. The response of the democracies continues to be wholly inadequate.
History will judge us, as it judges those who ignored the destruction of European Jewry 50 years ago.
We urge the Bush Administration in its final months to take measures to stop the atrocities, and to lead United Nations efforts to convene a war crimes tribunal.
We further call on President-elect Bill Clinton to make dealing with Bosnia and other human rights crises a central element of his foreign policy.
