U.S. Economy Is Forecast to Grow 2.3% in 1993: The U.S. economy will grow 2.3% next year and does not need a stimulus package or a further lowering of interest rates to keep its momentum going, according to a report by the 24-nation Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. The OECD suggested that the United States could solve its deficit problem by mid-decade by adopting policies that are already commonplace in other countries. It said these include a tax of 25 cents per gallon on gasoline, cost controls on medical care and a 5% value-added tax on goods.
