Coach: Rick Zabala (sixth year).
1991: The Coyotes won the first Southern Section 2-A dual meet championship, defeating Temecula Valley, 33-21. Their victory was something of a surprise in that the Coyotes were not ranked among the division’s top 10 going into the tournament. Buena Park also won the Freeway League championship.

Wrestling--Temecula Valley defeated Buena Park, 33-21, to win the Southern Section 2-A dual meet championship last season. The score was reversed in Tuesday’s editions.
Key returners: Blake Orlando, Sr., 119; Wali Sibrie, Jr., heavyweight; Vince Virgen, Jr., 119.
Key newcomer: Jimmy Cao, So., 125.
Outlook: With the exception of Mike Nakoniecsny and Jim Schoales, Zabala has almost the entire cast back from the 2-A championship team. Sibrie and Virgen are the best of the best, however. As a sophomore, Sibrie was fourth in the 2-A individual tournament, finished sixth at the Masters meet and qualified for the State meet. Keep an eye out for Sibrie at State this season; with another year of experience, he should only get better. In his first two seasons at Buena Park, Virgen won Freeway League championships.
