DIGEST : CLU’s Kuntz Wins Coaching Honor

George Kuntz of Cal Lutheran was named co-coach of the year in NCAA Division III women’s soccer. Kuntz, who also coaches the men’s team, led the Regals (17-4) to a No. 3 national ranking.

Four Cal Lutheran women’s soccer players were named to the All-Far West region team.
Seniors Vanessa Martin and Stephanie Gainey earned first-team honors, and junior Rachel Wackerman and sophomore Heidi Ramage were named to the second team.

Cal Lutheran football players Chris Sestito and Tom Pellegrino were selected to the College Division Academic All-American team for the second consecutive year.
Sestito, a senior linebacker who is the second-leading tackler in school history with 328, is a business administration major with a 3.33 grade-point average. Pellegrino, a senior defensive lineman who had 49 tackles and two sacks, is an English major with a 3.27 GPA.
