Search of Clinton Passport File

In response to “Passport Search Tied to Politics,” Nov. 19:
It seems to me that are we sending the wrong message to government agencies when we criticize them for acting promptly. Your summary of the passport case said that instead of being treated routinely, the search was conducted with “unprecedented scope, urgency, thoroughness.”
I believe that the passport search was outside the government’s normal snail’s pace response, but should we slap their hands for working with urgency and thoroughness? Imagine if all government agencies worked with urgency and thoroughness.
