ROUNDUP : Burr Bombs Just Enough for Glendale, 104-103

Will Burr of Glendale College scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Vaqueros (3-4) to a 104-103 overtime victory over Southwestern in a first-round game of the Golden West tournament Thursday.
Burr, a sophomore from Alemany High, put on a long-range shooting clinic, hitting eight of 11 from three-point range, and 10 of 15 shots overall. He was also four for four from the foul line.
In other men’s basketball games:
Antelope Valley 97, Contra Costa 81--Freshman Akili Carter scored a game-high 22 points to lead the host Marauders (7-1) to an easy win in the first round of the Antelope Valley tournament.
The Marauders will play Canyons, an 80-72 winner over Merced, in the semifinals today.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Fresno City 72, Valley 67--Fresno held a 15-point lead midway through the first half as previously unbeaten Valley (4-1) played sluggishly after a 3 1/2-hour bus ride.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Southern Section Individual Tennis Championships--Sarah Wiegler and Kirsten Gross of Calabasas overcame a slow start in their first match to win in three sets, then upset the third-seeded team to advance to the doubles semifinals at the Irvine Racquet Club.
Wiegler and Gross defeated Barbie Bayless and Dana Rudolph of Sunny Hills, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, in the round of 16, then knocked off Brigitt Wallace and Cindy Brumfield of Santa Barbara, 6-3, 6-4, in the quarterfinals.
In singles, Laura Gross of Chaminade defeated Joyce Cruz of Rosary, 6-4, 6-2, in the round of 16 before losing to second-seeded Janet Lee of Peninsula, 6-2, 6-0. Harvard-Westlake’s Lindsay Wasserman defaulted to Brandy Freundenberg in the round of 16.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Chaminade 77, Brethren Christian 57--Trevor Testwuide and Kirk Johnson each scored 14 points for Chaminade (2-0) as the Eagles raced to a 45-15 halftime lead then cruised in a Faith Baptist tournament quarterfinal game.
Montclair Prep 68, St. Genevieve 62--Blake Sonne hit two free throws with two minutes left to break a 62-62 tie in a quarterfinal game of the Faith Baptist tournament.
Faith Baptist 85, Harvard-Westlake 76--Faith Baptist (2-0) outscored Harvard-Westlake, 22-2, late in the first half then coasted into the semifinals of the Faith Baptist tournament.
Tony Hoggatts had 27 points and 14 rebounds for Faith Baptist.
Agoura 52, Chatsworth 47--Jeff Nieman scored 12 points to lead Agoura into the semifinals of the Saugus tournament. Trenell Floyd had a game-high 14 points for Chatsworth.
