PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Berger’s Goal on a Penalty Kick Gives Capistrano Valley 1-0 Victory

Kyle Berger scored on a first-half penalty kick to help host Capistrano Valley to a 1-0 victory over Foothill, the county’s sixth-ranked team, in a nonleague boys’ soccer match Friday.
Brian Beech had four saves for Capistrano Valley (2-3-2). Jason Vlcek had five saves for Foothill (5-1-2).
In other nonleague matches:
El Toro 6, Fullerton 0--Brian Riggs scored three goals for host El Toro (3-2-3). Fullerton is 2-4.
Sonora 5, Villa Park 2--Forward Cory Witt scored two goals for host Sonora (5-1-1). Villa Park is 2-2.
Trabuco Hills 3, University 2--Nick Chavis scored twice for host Trabuco Hills (4-4). Scott Perez scored twice for University (1-3).
In Garden Grove League play:
Garden Grove 1, La Quinta 0--Mark Hastings scored the winning goal for host Garden Grove (4-1, 2-0 in league). La Quinta is 3-2, 0-2.
Kennedy 1, Pacifica 0--Ryan Bean scored a first-half goal for Kennedy (1-1 in league).
Santiago 3, Los Amigos 0--Rafael Mosqueda had a goal and two assists for visiting Santiago (3-2-1, 2-0). Los Amigos is 0-2 in league.
In Sunset League play:
Huntington Beach 2, Westminster 1 (OT)--Jeremy Buttson scored the game-winning goal in the first 10-minute half of overtime for the host Oilers (4-3, 2-0). Huntington Beach’s Jose Torres scored with five minutes remaining in regulation to tie the score at 1-1. Westminster is 1-3-1, 0-2.
Ocean View 1, Fountain Valley 0--Erik Vinland scored a first-half goal for visiting Ocean View (5-1, 2-0), the third-ranked team in the county. Fountain Valley is 1-3, 0-2.
