Barron’s Editor Stepping Down: The controversial editor of Barron’s, a national business weekly, has been asked to resign after 11 years at the post. Alan Abelson reportedly told staff members that Dow Jones & Co., the magazine’s owner, would allow him to continue to write his popular “Up & Down Wall Street” column. The New York Times, quoting staff members, said Abelson was believed to have disagreed with management over a redesign of the publication. He was expected to resign in the first quarter of 1993.
