EDUCATION NEWS : LACC Student Paper Garners 11 Awards

Los Angeles City College’s student newspaper, the Collegian, won 11 awards at the Journalism Assn. of Community Colleges’ competition at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.
Honored students include Tom Pendergast, first place for news photo and fourth place for photo essay; Harold Plople, first place for line illustration; Joe Shaw, third place for news story and best use of photos; Jack Galindo, first place for photo without category, fourth place for feature photo and photo essay, and Steve Garza, third place for news story writing, honorable mention for investigative news story.
The paper’s staff received an honorable mention for front-page layout and general excellence.
