VENTURA : Pizza Delivery Man Is Target of Shots

An unknown person fired shots at a pizza delivery man who was returning to a Ventura pizzeria after making a delivery, police said Wednesday.
Jose Cervantes, 29, of Ventura had just delivered a pizza to a home in the 400 block of West Romona Street in Ventura about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday and was returning to his car when he was approached by a group of about a dozen males. One of the group fired several rounds from a handgun at Cervantes, police said.
Cervantes was able to drive from the scene and return to Domino’s Pizza on Telephone Road and call authorities.
Ventura police received three calls from residents in the area of the shooting saying that they heard between 10 and 12 shots fired, police said.
There were no reported injuries in the shooting, police said.
Officers were continuing their investigation.
