To help counter an outbreak of flu-like symptoms in the county, Ventura County Public Health Services is offering influenza immunizations on a first-come, first-served basis at local public health clinics throughout the county.
Sue Hyatt, director of the immunization program at county Public Health Services, recommends flu shots for people over 55. Others encouraged to take the shots include those with diabetes or heart conditions, those who are HIV-positive or suffer from conditions that weaken the immune system.
The immunizations are offered for $2 each at the following locations:
* Ventura Health Center, 3147 Loma Vista Road, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
* Simi Public Health Center, 2003 Royal Ave., from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
* Oxnard Public Health Center, 2500 S. C St., from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
