Clinton’s Cabinet

With respect to your article “Education-Energy Picks Appear to Be Set,” Dec. 21:
Why, pray tell, is it necessary that Clinton select a Cabinet that “looks like America”? Do the Rams or Lakers look like Southern California? I think not.
Instead of setting up a gender or skin color quota system, wouldn’t it be wise if Clinton selected his Cabinet based on the best and the brightest individuals who have the ability, the intelligence and moral integrity to get the job done?
America is fighting for its moral and economic life. We cannot maintain our position as a world leader unless we have the most competent individuals in the executive branch of our government.
