Colorado Boycott and Amendment 2
In response to “Discrimination Against Me Will Soon Be Legal in Colorado,” by Susan Biemesderfer, Opinion, Dec. 27:
Susan Biemesderfer, avowed lesbian and former Rhodes scholar, pleads that we should support homosexuals’ efforts to boycott Colorado for passing a “homophobic” amendment. Biemesderfer argues that homosexuality is a civil rights issue, and that its denial to them is a threat to us as well.
What shallow and misplaced thinking. Homosexuals, like abortionists, cannot rightfully clamor for a right to do wrong. The issue is not legality but morality, the underpinning, after all, of all laws. Discrimination may be the lot of homosexuals, but is it good or bad discrimination?
