COMMUNITY COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Orange Coast Shuts Down Saddleback

Orange Coast forced Saddleback to shoot 23% from the field and the Pirates coasted to a 61-35 victory in an Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game Friday at Orange Coast.

Ricarda Kuypers scored 20 points and Heather Branna added 14 for OCC (18-2, 2-0 in conference). Shelley Calhoun, Saddleback’s leading scorer with an average of 14.5 points per game, was held to one point by OCC’s Jana Davis.

Megan Rehwoldt and Kendra Ojura each scored 10 points for Saddleback (3-10, 0-2).

In other Orange Empire Conference games:

Fullerton 59, Cypress 50--Jennifer Little and Christa McDonald each scored 16 points for Fullerton (11-11, 1-1). McDonald also had seven blocks. Yolanda Hearvey had 16 points and hit two three-pointers for Cypress (9-9, 0-2). Teammates Tamika Harold and Joan Maurer each scored 12 points.

Riverside 79, Rancho Santiago 58--Myhanah Nguyen scored 20 points and Wendy Morris added 12 for visiting Rancho Santiago (4-11, 0-1). Carolo Vaioletama and Delilah Vergara scored 14 points each for Riverside.
