SAUGUS : Gift Enables Youth Club to Stay Open
- Share via
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Clarita Valley, whose satellite Emblem Clubhouse in Saugus nearly had to close because of a shortage of money, has reported that a $10,000 grant from the Los Angeles Times Fund will enable the 2,800-square-foot facility to remain open and continue serving 250 children.
The grant will help defray clubhouse operating costs of $40,000 per year, said Jim Ventress, the clubs’ executive director.
The clubs also invite prospective volunteers interested in assisting with the group’s annual charity auction June 12 to attend the event’s first planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the main clubhouse, 24909 Newhall Ave., Newhall.
