Monrovia : Bone Tissue Donors Sought
The Monrovia Police Department is trying to find a bone marrow donor for one of the department’s teen-age Explorer Scouts.
Jose Villegas, 15, has contracted leukemia and must have the transplant to survive, City Councilman John Nobrega said.
The Police Department is sponsoring a testing day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 7 for anyone willing to see if their bone marrow is compatible with Villegas’. The testing will be done free of charge at the Monrovia Community Center, 119 W. Palm Ave.
The department also is asking for donations to help pay the cost of testing, medical procedures and to assist the Villegas family.
Checks can be made out to: Jose Villegas Support Fund, c/o Monrovia Police Department, 140 E. Lime Ave., Monrovia 91016.
