STANTON — Services for Councilman William H. Horton, who died earlier this week of heart failure, will be held Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in Cypress.
Visitation will be today at Forest Lawn, though a time had not been scheduled Wednesday. Mourners may call Forest Lawn after 10 a.m. at (714) 828-3131 for the time of visitation.
Horton, 59, suffered heart failure before dawn on Tuesday. Paramedics were unable to revive him, said his wife, Joanne. He had no history of heart problems, she said.
Horton, who was elected to the council last November, managed a body shop at the Cerritos Auto Mall. He was admired by his council colleagues and residents for his desire to bring business skills to city government.
He was the first council member to die in office. The city has 30 days to appoint another council member or hold a special election.
Services Friday will be held at 3 p.m. at Church of Our Fathers at Forest Lawn, 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress.
