SIMI VALLEY : Doctor Denies Guilt in Assault Case

A Simi Valley doctor pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that he sexually assaulted four women in his office.

An April 15 trial date on the misdemeanor charges has been scheduled for David Lounsberry, 51. Lounsberry did not appear in Ventura County Municipal Court, but entered his plea through his attorney, Robert E. Courtney of Redondo Beach.

Lounsberry, a family practitioner, is accused of fondling the women between February and September, 1992. Three of the women were in Lounsberry’s office as patients, and the fourth woman was the mother of a child patient, Deputy Dist. Atty. William G. Karr said.

Prosecutors initially filed two sexual battery counts against Lounsberry. News accounts of those charges prompted two other women to come forward with complaints against the physician, leading to three other battery charges being filed against him, Karr said.

Lounsberry is accused of fondling one woman twice, during two trips to his office about a month apart, Karr said.
