WIDE POLITICKING: Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Panorama City) took his campaign for mayor of Los Angeles beyond city boundaries for a breakfast at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach on Friday. Attending were many Orange County political heavyweights. A co-host, Irvine Co. executive vice president Gary Hunt, told the group that Los Angeles is the center of Southern California and its fate important to Orange County. . . . Though it wasn’t billed as a fund-raiser, Katz contribution envelopes were passed out at the door.
