Industrial Vacancy Rate Rises to 8.7%: CB Commercial Real Estate Group said its index of 36 markets across the nation showed the vacancy rate for industrial properties at the end of 1992 stood at 8.7%, up from 8.6% at the end of the third quarter and 7.9% at the end of 1991. North America’s largest commercial real estate services company said that although industrial property vacancy rates indicate that the overall market has bottomed, it is likely to stay there since there are no signs of improvement. The vacancy rate in the Western region of the country stood at 9.3% at the end of the year, down from 9.5% at the end of the third quarter, the study said. At the end of 1991, its vacancy rate stood at 8.5%.
