Top-seeded Jim Courier fought back from match point in the third set and defeated 15th-seeded Brett Steven, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), in the third round of the $780,000 indoor tournament at Memphis, Tenn.
No. 2 Michael Chang and No. 3 Andre Agassi also moved into the quarterfinals. Chang recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Richey Reneberg, and Agassi rallied to defeat Chuck Adams, 6-7 (10-12), 6-4, 6-0.
