HUNTINGTON BEACH — Lightning struck a judges stand at Huntington Beach Pier Friday night, forcing cancellation of today’s surfing portion of the two-day Op Winter Surf Pro.
The event combines surfing and snowboarding. Surfing was to be held today in Huntington Beach, with snow-boarding Sunday at Big Bear Mountain.
The coordinator of the event, Judy Horton, said there wasn’t time to rebuild the judging stand. She said a determination would be made today if the snowboarding will be held Sunday.
