Ocean View guard Jim Harris has finished as the No. 2 player on the Southern Section’s career assist list.
Harris, who will attend Loyola Marymount in the fall, had 804 assists in four seasons. He passed former Inglewood High guard Ralph Jackson (797) on the list and trails only former Riverside J.W. North star Billy Walker (827).
Harris also finished among the section’s top 10 career leaders in three-point shots with 209, including 64 three-pointers this season.
Ocean View’s 53-47 loss to Riverside Poly last Friday night in the Division II-AA playoffs marked the end of a four-year father-son relationship on the court.
“There was a feeling of relief because the end was a moment I always dreaded,” Coach Jim Harris Sr. said. “Now that it’s done, hopefully he’ll go on and have a successful career at Loyola Marymount.”
