THOUSAND OAKS : 4 Gunmen Steal Jewelry From Store

Four armed robbers held up the jewelry department of the Best Products Co. in Thousand Oaks on Thursday evening, escaping with an undetermined amount of jewelry, authorities said.
The robbery was the third time the Best store in the Janss Mall was targeted by a band of robbers in the last three years, and similar to a string of 1991 east county jewelry robberies at other stores.
Thursday’s robbery occurred at 8:15 p.m. when four men entered the store at 197 N. Moorpark Road, held employees at bay with drawn guns and smashed the glass jewelry cases before scooping up the contents, Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Nagel said.
Sheriff’s deputies located the getaway car not far from the center and determined that it had been reported stolen from the Los Angeles area, Nagel said.
In January, 1992, the same Best store was robbed by three armed men who made off with an estimated $260,000 worth of jewelry after forcing customers and clerks to lie on the floor.
In April, 1990, the store was the target of another trio of armed robbers, who escaped with $100,000 jewelry.
