OUTLOOK

Howard would like to forget last season, but it may have laid the foundation for better days. At one point, the Panthers were starting all sophomores and freshmen. They now have a year’s experience behind them--although it was a dismal experience. “We’re a lot better then we were last year, that’s for sure,” Howard said. “The kids are playing better team ball and with more confidence. We’re also stronger after working hard in the weight room.” How many victories that brings is still a question. But the Panthers do have one of the better young outfields around in Folsom, Estrada and Schmaus. The Panthers also have plenty of pitchers back.
