Closing Shop: Financial struggles will force San Francisco’s KMTP-TV, one of only two black-run public broadcasting stations in the United States, to suspend broadcasting this week. Officials said the station, which has been struggling financially since its inception in 1991 and needs $100,000 to stay afloat, may return to the airwaves in May with the issuance of a Corporation for Public Broadcasting grant.
