Cutting Back: Pianist Alfred Brendel is cutting back his coming Los Angeles appearances because of shoulder and arm problems. The London-based artist will perform Beethoven recitals for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Mercedes-Benz Celebrity Concerts on April 18 and April 21 as scheduled, but has canceled a non-subscription April 25 concert, saying his doctor advised him to reduce his performance schedule. Ticket holders can exchange tickets for the April 25 program at the Philharmonic box office.
