NATION IN BRIEF : MINNESOTA : Gay Rights Measure Signed by Governor

Gov. Arne Carlson signed into law a bill that protects homosexuals against discrimination in housing, employment and education. The law includes lesbians and gay men in the state’s human rights statutes, outlawing discrimination based on a person’s sexual orientation. Minnesota becomes the eighth state to extend civil rights protection to homosexuals, joining California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont and Wisconsin.
