Motorist Has Wrong Concerns

Monroe Perry of Woodland Hills has an endless list of car-related problems: He can’t get service at gas stations, he needs directions, wants free maps, doesn’t carry a good spare tire, etc. (“Service a Thing of the Past,” Times Valley Edition Letters, March 7.)
Sure there’s no service at most gas stations anymore. Most of us would rather pay $1.25 a gallon and pump our own gas. Perry can get full service at many stations around town--and pay nearly two bucks a gallon for it if he wants to. Hey Perry, why don’t you quit your bellyaching and do all of us a favor: Keep your car in your garage and try public transportation.
What prompted my letter, however, was Perry’s repeated references to auto service personnel who speak “fractured English.”
What was his letter about--perceived inadequate service at gas stations or his problem with people who can’t speak perfect English?
Monroe Perry needs to get out of his cave and get into the ‘90s. We as a community have important problems to deal with, regardless of race, language, etc.
