A gunman killed two men and wounded a third as he drove past a Long Beach apartment building and sprayed the area with bullets early Sunday evening, forcing residents to duck for safety.
Long Beach police Monday were searching for the driver of a red Mustang who opened fire on three men standing outside an apartment building in the 1400 block of Pine Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Brian Grigsby, 21, and Mitchell Donald Jr., 27, died from gunshot wounds. Carvey Lester Jr., 19, suffered a bullet wound to the groin area and was listed in fair condition at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Grigsby’s relatives said his family was gathered at his mother’s home on the second floor of the building when the gunman drove by and opened fire with an assault rifle. One relative, who asked that his name not be used, attributed the shooting to a dispute over money involving one of the other victims. Police said the shooting was not gang-related.
