PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Zamora Pitches Two-Hitter, Capistrano Valley Wins

Peter Zamora lost a perfect game in the fifth inning but finished with a two-hit shutout as Capistrano Valley beat Calexico, 4-0, Wednesday in the third-place game of the Coachella Valley tournament.
Zamora (4-2) allowed only an infield hit in the fifth and a single in the sixth. He struck out 13 and didn’t walk a batter. Mark Janco had two hits and three stolen bases for the Cougars (10-4).
Earlier, the Cougars lost, 7-3, in the semifinals to Victor Valley. Brodie Lefebvre drove in two runs with a double in the fourth, when the Cougars took a 3-1 lead. Victor Valley regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs.
In the Pomona Elks Tournament:
Ocean View 9, Covina 4--Lead-off batter Steve Rivera, who went two for four, sparked Ocean View (13-4) with a home run in the top of the first of the consolation final. Second baseman Scott Foreman went two for three with a two-run double in the fourth. Ocean View first baseman Justin Brunette went three for four with three RBIs. Covina is 10-5.
In the Las Vegas Eldorado tournament:
Edison 6, Rancho Buena Vista 4--Chris Kurz pitched a one-hitter, striking out seven, to lead Edison to a pool-play victory. The Chargers (10-3) also beat Pahrump (Nev.), 9-4, in a pool-play game, led by Tom Burilla, who had three hits and three RBIs.
In the Babe Herman tournament:
University 6, Crescenta Valley 5 (8 innings)--University scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score and a run in the bottom of the eighth to win the third-place game at Stengel Field in Glendale.
