COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Oxnard Collects 16 Hits in Win

Alex Zavala and Chris Gonzales combined on a five-hitter and Oxnard College overwhelmed Los Medanos, 16-2, Friday in a consolation game of the Channel Coast tournament at Oxnard.
The Condors (9-20) had 16 hits. Ulf Hopen, Jon Chaparro and Tim Cass each had two hits and three runs batted in.
Ralph Guillan added a home run and a single and Laurence Cottrell had two hits and two RBIs.
The win was the first of the season for Zavala. Gonzales notched his third save.
In another Channel Coast tournament game:
Moorpark 8, Santa Barbara 2--Brian Vasey was four for four with one RBI, leading the Raiders (13-15) in a consolation game.
Vasey, a sophomore from Simi Valley High, was one of six players with two or more hits in Moorpark’s 15-hit attack. Left fielder Rod Heck was two for two with a double and a solo home run, his first.
John Dickinson (1-2), a sophomore from Camarillo High, pitched a four-hitter, struck out five and walked none.
