World IN BRIEF : SAUDI ARABIA : President of Bosnia Wins Islamic Prize

Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic has been awarded the King Faisal International Prize for his services to Islam. The Saudi Press Agency said the $93,333 prize was given in recognition of Izetbegovic’s “Islamic efforts and in appreciation for his jihad stands.” Saudi Arabia has been at the forefront of Muslim countries providing humanitarian and financial aid to Bosnian Muslims fighting Serbian forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
