‘Walker’ Gets a Setback: CBS was surprised and upset that Cannon TV abruptly shut down production last week on “Walker, Texas Ranger,” a heavily promoted action series starring Chuck Norris, a network official said Monday. CBS had placed a 13-episode order, but only three were completed because the independent production company could not find financing from overseas markets to cover production costs. The two-hour premiere will air April 21, as originally scheduled, with the remaining hourlong episodes airing the following two Saturdays. “If it does extraordinarily well on the three outings, we’re certain Cannon can get a financial partner and it could go on the air for fall,” the official said.
