Early Commute Pays Off on Hollywood Freeway

Motorists in North Hollywood cashed in on their commute Tuesday morning when a flurry of $1 bills mysteriously materialized on the Hollywood Freeway, triggering a traffic jam as motorists stopped their cars to grab the loose bills, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
“We don’t have any idea where it came from,” CHP Officer Angela Brown said. “It was all over the lanes.”
Brown said the money appeared about 5:45 a.m. on the southbound Hollywood Freeway near Victory Boulevard. It took officers about 30 minutes to collect $147 and it was unknown just how much of the money had blown away.
Some of the bills, however, landed in the hands of morning commuters, Brown said. “People were basically stopping in the road to get the money.”
Though several slips of paper were found flying among the bills, Brown said that officers were unable to identify the owner of the money.
“Nobody has come forward to claim it and no citizens have turned over any of the money either,” Brown said.
