COLLEGE ROUNDUP : USC Romps to Victory Over UCI in Men’s Volleyball

Chris Underwood had 19 kills to lead USC to a 15-4, 15-4, 15-7 victory over UC Irvine in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match Wednesday at USC’s Lyon Center.
Shawn Salkeld had 12 kills and Alex Huang had 10 for UC Irvine (2-18, 1-16 in conference). USC is 12-8, 11-7.
In the Western Intercollegiate golf tournament:
UC Irvine finishes 13th--Irvine’s Steve Holmes had a three-round total of 13-over 226 to finish tied for 20th at the Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s tennis:
UC Riverside 8, Chapman 1--Jason Stephens and David Joerger won at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 7-6, for host Chapman (0-17, 0-8).
In nonconference men’s tennis:
San Diego 5, UC Irvine 4--Aaron Stolpman and Chris Tontz upset 19th-ranked Kevin Bradley and Ignacio Martinez, 7-6, 7-5, in No. 1 doubles for Irvine (10-10). Fredrik Bach posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Philippe Hofman in No. 3 singles, and Carlos Bustos won his sixth consecutive match with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory in No. 4 singles for the Anteaters.
