N.Y. Life Ensures 5-Year Funding for ‘MacNeil/Lehrer’

PBS’ “MacNeil/Lehrer News-Hour” has been guaranteed funding for the next five years by New York Life Insurance Co., which will contribute about $4 million each year.
“This is the first time New York Life has ever funded public television, and we chose ‘MacNeil/Lehrer’ because of its excellence in news reporting,” said Harry Hohn, chairman of the insurance company.
The PBS newscast also receives financial backing from PepsiCo. and Archer Daniels Midland Co.
