Attention all strummers: Care to share a concert bill with Joni Mitchell, Arlo Guthrie, John Prine, Richard Thompson and other heroes of the folk world too numerous to mention?
The Troubadours of Folk festival, June 5-6 at UCLA’s Drake Stadium, is running a contest whose two winners will get to play on the festival’s main stage.
To enter, send a cassette tape of two or three acoustic folk songs, along with name and phone number, to Concert Associates, 723 1/2 N. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif., 90069. Each submission must be accompanied by a check or money order for $5, payable to Concert Associates. Entries must be received no later than May 1. Twenty finalists culled from the tapes will perform two songs each on May 22 at Highland Grounds in Hollywood. A panel of judges from radio stations and record companies will pick the two winners. Information: (310) 391-3139.
