Cher in Armenia: Cher said Friday she felt her Armenian heritage for the first time during an emotional two-day private aid mission to the homeland of her late father. “It’s been an unbelievable time for me,” the half-Armenian entertainer told the Associated Press on Friday after meeting the president of the former Soviet republic, which has been in an undeclared war with neighboring Azerbaijan since 1988. Cher, born Cherilyn Sarkisian, arrived Wednesday with $2.75-million worth of privately donated humanitarian aid, including toys, medical supplies and computers. She checked into a hotel and promptly got a taste of the difficult life there. The building has no heat, little electricity and a sporadic water supply because of a blockade by Azerbaijan.
