An Orange man who was the innocent victim of a gang shooting while working on his pickup truck is slowly recovering from his wounds, authorities said Friday.
Keith Birnfeld, 31, was listed in good condition in the intensive care unit of a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his chest and arm, hospital officials said.
Birnfeld was shot Wednesday night in the 400 block of South Lemon Street in Anaheim by a gunman in a car that was racing down the street. The gunman apparently was aiming at members of a rival gang who were running down the street near Birnfeld, police said.
Birnfeld’s wife drove him to the Police Department. He was then taken to the hospital.
Police said they did not know what prompted the fight between the two gangs. Investigators are trying to find witnesses to the shooting and did not have anyone in custody.
